The current owners had reduced the price $1,151,000 from their original asking price of $1,950,000.

Due to that low price of only $799K, they received multiple offers that drove the selling price up (but we cannot say how much because the deal is still in escrow).

THE SLUG FEST GOING ON NOW IS BETWEEN THE BANKS AND LENDERS INVOLVED IN THE APPROX. 3 RECORDED NOTES (1st, 2nd & 3rd notes secured by deeds of trust). The sellers might also be in it up to their eyeballs as well, depending on how much the holders of the 2nd & 3rd notes are fighting the fact that the holders of the first at about 1.1 million dollars can by statue wipe them out if they proceed with a foreclosure. That would seem like the easiest course for the holder of the 1st. But, there are some regulations on the books that can stall a foreclosure process and allow a property that has a Deposit Reciept (purchase contract) in place that is agreed to by a buyer and the seller, to stay out of foreclosure while the sale (most likely a short sale) gets worked out.

This short sale tango has been going on for at least 6 months, which by most examples is far too long. That leads us to beleive that some nasty slugging is going on. The other thing that is clear is that someone (the buyers who are in contract) must really want this place to stick it out this long while the banks and lenders fight it out. All of this information is gleaned from the very little bits of information being provided by the parties involved. Our years of experience tell us that this is not your average 1st note and trust deed holder takes over and offers littel or nothing to the holders of the 2nd and 3rd notes.

Buy a Piece of Car Collecting and Hollywood History!

A Santa Paula ranch once owned by actor Steve McQueen and his third wife, Barbara Minty, has come on the market and it can be yours!

Built in 1892, the house has period detailing and antique stained glass windows, but has been updated with commercial-grade kitchen fixtures and appliances.

The ranch includes 3 acres of Syrah vineyards, fruit trees, a 3-acre equestrian facility and the airplane hangar where McQueen kept his prestigious car collection.
The "King of Cool" and Ms. Minty moved into the Santa Paula, California, home in 1979 and married in the living room of the Victorian home in 1980.

The "King of Cool" apparently found a measure of peace in Santa Paula, Calif., where he could stash his collection of cars, planes, and motorcycles, and the locals didn't seem to think it was such a big deal that a legendary movie star was living in their midst.

Steve McQueen had largely turned away from Hollywood when he settled in the town, about 75 miles northwest of Los Angeles, in 1979. Drawn there, according to biographers, by the town's reputation as the vintage-plane capital of America, the tough-boy icon purchased a nearby 15.33-acre ranch with an 1892 cottage and a 4,200-square-foot hangar that he stuffed with dirt bikes, Indian motorcycles and rare sports cars.

McQueen, who became one of the world's highest-paid actors in the 1960s, honed an image of toughness in such noted films as "Bullitt," "The Great Escape," and "The Cincinnati Kid."

But he started turning down most roles in the 1970s, focusing instead on auto and motorcycle racing and traveling the back roads of the West. He purchased two vintage Stearman biplanes and persuaded a Santa Paula local to become his flight instructor.
