| For more than a decade, the T-Bird and Bel Air have remained part of the Busch family collection, carefully kept in North Carolina. These two collector cars are coming full circle and are heading back to the Barrett-Jackson stage, set to cross the block with No Reserve at the 2026 Palm Beach Auction, April 16-18 at the South Florida Fairgrounds. And while their story is rooted in personal moments and memories for the Busch family, their appeal goes far beyond sentiment as each car stands on its own as a standout example of style and performance. The ’56 Bel Air (Lot #456) is a thoughtfully built cruiser with modern muscle under the skin. Powered by an LS1 V-8 topped with an LS6 intake and backed by a 4L60E automatic, it delivers the kind of performance that matches its bold presence. A body-off-frame restoration brought everything back better than new, from the powder-coated chassis and air-ride suspension to the polished aluminum driveshaft and stainless exhaust. Baer disc brakes at all four corners keep things in check, while staggered Billet Specialties wheels give it just the right stance. Inside, it’s all about refined comfort, with custom natural leather, German square-weave carpet and a Dakota Digital dash blending classic style with modern convenience. Driven just over 3,500 miles since completion, this Bel Air balances show-stopping looks with real road-going capability. The ’57 Thunderbird convertible (Lot #457) tells a slightly different story, one rooted in elegance and timeless appeal. Under the hood sits a rebuilt 312ci V-8, delivering 240 horsepower through an automatic transmission, making it every bit the effortless cruiser you’d expect from a classic T-Bird. Finished in soft Dusk Rose, complete with both a matching hardtop and white convertible soft-top, it’s a car that feels just as at home on the concours lawn as it does on a scenic drive. A frame-off restoration brought the paint, chrome and interior back to a high standard, while Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels and wide whitewalls complete the look. The quality of the build didn’t go unnoticed: The car earned a Gold Award and Senior Status at a Classic Thunderbird Club International event in California. With fewer than 1,100 miles since its restoration, this Thunderbird remains a beautiful example of one of Ford’s most iconic designs. Now, with Kyle and Samantha Busch scheduled to be at the Palm Beach Auction for the sale, that story gets its next chapter. Whether drawn in by the cars’ NASCAR connection, craftsmanship or unmistakable presence, bidders won’t want to miss the chance to bring either of these classic vehicles home with them and be a part of a narrative that blends passion, performance and personal history in true Barrett-Jackson fashion. |
