The engine was a longitudinally mounted 12 cylinder with horizontally opposed pistons and mounted mid-ship in the vehicle. With Bosch K Jetronic Fuel Injection and DOHC, the naturally aspirated engine produced 340 horsepower and was capable of propelling the car to a top speed of over 180 mph. The 5-liter engine was constructed of a lightweight alloy material. Power was sent to the rear wheels via a limited slip differential. The brakes were ventilated discs. The excellent performance and handling matched the vehicles exquisite Pininfarina Design. Only 1007 512BBi’s were produced from 1981-1984 and not officially imported into the USA, so rarity and exclusivity are guaranteed. Many consider the ’84 to be the nicest example of the model. The body and lower body panels are all color integrated. One of the greatest 12 cylinder Ferraris of all time, the 512BB combines the excellent power of the melodious flat 12 with timeless Pininfarina styling. Perfect in its Rosso Corsa coat with a stunning original Cream Interior. This particular 512 is an Incredible Survivor Car that one could drive or show. A Ferrari Collector that had an extensive collection of the finest Ferrari’s owned it for many years. The paint appears to be all original; we can find no evidence of body damage ever or paint work. There are virtually no chips to the front end of the car, which indicates someone was extremely careful when driving this vehicle. The paint patina and color matches all the way around the car. This is as original a Ferrari as we have seen. The Interior is also in wonderful original condition. Of course with 29K miles clocked there is a nice patina to the original leather that appears to have been cleaned regularly and obviously done very little time in direct sunlight. The carpeting is original and extremely nice as is the leather interior trim on the door panels, dash and interior door entry sills. The Dash is in very good original condition. The Leather Headliner is in untouched original condition as are the Sunvisors. The gauges and all interior lighting work, as they should. The Engine is all original and untouched. The Belts were recently serviced. The Clutch is new. This 512 runs out strong, as it should with just than 29K miles (1100 miles/year). The Campagnolo Center Lug Wheels are Excellent, the Glass is clear and again the Paint is nearly perfect. If you are looking for a rare and collectable Ferrari without a million dollar price tag and a real race car driving experience the 512BBi could be the perfect match. This fantastic example was owned new by a well-known Ferrari Collector and is federalized for street legality by the D.O.T. along with BAR Certification for the California Driver.
