(the oldest continuously running dirt ovals in the United States) Lot Size 48.70 AC Building Size 14,000 SF Sharon Speedway is a 3/8 mile dirt oval race track located in Hartford Township and named for the nearby city of Sharon, Pa. It opened in 1929, making it one of the oldest continuously running dirt ovals in the United States. The track was purchased in 2002 and is part-owned and operated by the Blaney family, which includes NASCAR driver David Blaney. There have been many upgrades made to the site such as the Grandstand with 10 loges and seating for 4,500 spectators, East side bleachers capable of 2,500 seats, first class concession stands and a novelty shop, restroom facilities to support the fans, ample parking in over 13 acres and even a camper area. They installed a Class A waste water disposal system that cost over $300,000 which requires a Class A Operator's license to maintain the system. There are two other concession stands other than that in the grandstand; South-side concession and the BBQ Concession Shack. |
